What this tool does
Preserves formulas (or replaces with values — your choice)
Removes embedded objects & ActiveX controls
Strips macros and VBA code
Normalises dates to DD/MM/YYYY on CSV export
Optionally converts negative amounts to positive (required by some accounting software)
Exports each sheet as a separate CSV when multiple sheets are present
Outputs XLS / XLSX / CSV or a VT Transaction-formatted CSV
100% local — your file never leaves your browser
This tool is provided as-is without warranty of any kind. Always verify output files before importing into VT Transaction or any other software. You are responsible for checking the accuracy of your data.
Note — if your accounting software won't install or load with Excel: SheetPrep prepares your data for import, but it cannot fix an add-in that refuses to load. Many accounting applications — including VT Transaction, Sage 50 Payroll, and others — are built as 32-bit Excel add-ins. These cannot run inside 64-bit Excel, and no file conversion can change this. The only fix is to reinstall Microsoft Office as the 32-bit version. Your Microsoft 365 licence covers both versions at no extra cost. If you use VT Transaction, see their step-by-step reinstall guide →
